Frank gained his Australian Fellowship in 1989. He spent 1990 at the University of Winnipeg as a visiting fellow with Professor Frank Manning. During that time, he was exposed to tertiary level obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.
Professor Manning taught him the invasive procedures that he now conducts – CVS, amniocentesis, saline hysterogram, fetal blood sampling and fetal blood transfusions.
He obtained the Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound from the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine in 1995. He is currently an examiner for the DDU for ASUM. As well, he is on the NATA Inspection Program to validate ultrasound standards in radiology practices. In order to pursue his passion for diagnostic ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Frank founded the Wesley Fetal Medicine Unit here at the Wesley Medical Centre in 1991. His aim was to provide a tertiary referral centre and high quality diagnostic ultrasound service to pregnant women, and women requiring gynaecological scanning.
Frank particularly wanted to provide personal, informative and affordable care to his patients. By March 2004, the Wesley Unit was operating to capacity serving not only the Brisbane area but also women from remote areas of Queensland and New South Wales. The ability to support patient numbers required a second unit to be established. The Sunnybank Fetal Medicine Unit opened in August 2004 and offers the same high level of quality care for patients on the south side of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. His practice focuses on diagnostic obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.
Outside of the office Frank has many and varied interests. As a Medical Officer in the RAAF, he conducts general practice clinics and on occasions attends weekend training exercises. Frank is also a keen cattle breeder and has a property in Imbil.
